QUICK MUTE REVIEWS
Dennis Wick Aluminum Straight Mute is the standard straight mute that I have used for years. It resonates quite well, which allows it to project and cut through ensembles. The intonation also slots well, and the corks have held up throughout the many years I’ve owned this mute.
Dennis Wick Copper Bottom Straight Mute feels very similar to the standard aluminum mute. The copper bottom produces a warmer, more gentle sound. I prefer this mute when it comes to solo playing.
Dennis Wick Brass Bottom Straight Mute has similar characteristics to the standard aluminum mute, while being slightly more focused.
Dennis Wick Adjustable Cup Mute is the cup mute I’ve used in various ensembles for years. The adjustable cup allows for some flexibilities in the tone color. Additionally, this mute can be used as a straight mute when the cup is removed.
Dennis Wick Practice Mute feels open in all registers while greatly diminishing the sound volume. I use this mute when I need to practice late at night or early in the morning.
Dennis Wick Travel Mute is the practice mute I use most. It has a bit more resistance, but its small size allows it to fit in my trombone bell when I’m traveling for auditions. This mute is a great way to avoid hotel noise complaints.
